Karla Schlaepfer-Karst - about me:
After
working for the Kölner Museumsdienst and starting the “Let’s Talk about Art”
program, I began in 2004 offering free-lance art education ArtTalks and
workshops in NRW museums and at the Cologne
trade fairs. Furthermore, I have offered customized language training and cross cultural coaching
for individuals and in-company since 1997 (Ford, Siemens, IBM among others).
I have designed
programs for school classes for learning English in the museum. Art-related and business
translations are further fields of activity. Since 2007, I have been a lecturer in teachers' education at the University
of Cologne, English Seminars I + II.
Member ELTA-Rhine professional teaching organisation.
I have two great teens, a purple bike and a grumpy rabbit named Ginger.
Important for, as an art educator, me is to help people connect personally with art and learn how to communicate thoughts and ideas triggered by this experience. I use Visual Teaching Strategies to instigate shifts in seeing and thinking.
